Resolve to Stop Buying #CFLBulbs

replacing regular light bulbs with LED bulbs, new years diy resolutions The quality and brightness of the light just don't compare with those of incandescent bulbs, so you're less likely to put CFLs in your most heavily used fixtures, where the savings would add up most. LED bulbs, on the other hand, don't require any compromise. So whenever a bulb blows in a high-use location, resolve to spring for an LED replacement (about $10 for a good one) that could pay for itself within a year.

The payoff: By the time you've replaced twenty 75-watt incandescents, you'll have reduced your annual electricity bill by at least $325.

Our Tree Won! A Gift For An Amazing Family!

Hi Mr. Ralston, I "won" your beautiful holiday Christmas tree that you decorated, and donated, to the Junior League.

I'd like you to know that your tree  is going to be displayed at the home of two adorable foster children, here in Santa Barbara.  I am a CASA volunteer(Court appointed Special Advocate), and was hoping to "win" a tree, so that I could give it to the foster family, of the children that I sponsor.  They are ages 5 and 7, boy and girl.  Thank you for making their Christmas, extra special!! I know they will enjoy the LARGE lights and Merry-go-round stand.

Also, as a Sustaining Member of the Junior League, I thank you for your generous donation.

Happy Holidays!

Wine of The Season

Wine of The Season

As we swing into the festive season, there are some items you should consider keeping on hand at all times should an impromptu party break out. Consider an unopened box of mixed crackers, a few pieces of cheese, a cured sausage (like salami) and a cold bottle of Cava or two. In the event a party doesn’t spontaneously erupt in your kitchen, you still have some good nosh on-hand.

Tasting  Note: Light straw in colour with abundant fine bubbles in the glass. Classic cava aromas of lemon-citrus, brioche and minerals are clean and pronounced on the nose. Very nicely balanced - the lemon-like acidity and lively fruit flavours are brought together by the bubbles on a refreshing, dry palate with hints of grapefruit, nuts and flint. Drink this instead of beer.
